Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I’m Bill Hendricks, the Interim Pastor for the Wellsville Baptist Church. I have the privilege of working with you until a new pastor is called. Between now and then, it will be my treat to meet and greet each of you and share our faith in Jesus Christ.
Four core pastoral beliefs shape my call to be your interim pastor. These are the best way for me to introduce myself. In future newsletters, I will dive deeper into each, but for this week, this is Bill Hendricks…
Core Belief #1: “I do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. My life, my work and my relationships are empowered by Jesus Christ.” I’ve been a full-time pastor for 10 years and owned an international consulting business for 25. I have had the opportunity to coach world-class swimmers and divers and provided change management support to hundreds of companies in 13 different countries. I am the author of 6 business books and was selected as one of the Top 10% platform speakers in the USA. Christ alive in me, propels my thinking, effort and my commitment in the things I do.
Core Belief #2: “The Kingdom of God is a kingdom of right relationships.” Every organization’s success, from a small congregation to a Fortune 50 corporation, is built on discovering the fact that the treasure is in the people! My role is to help Wellsville Baptist Church get the ‘People stuff’ right. When we do, the Church comes alive, a magnet for the next generation of church members. That’s my mission.
Core Belief #3: “Conflict is inevitable, combat is optional.” I completed my doctorate in 1987. I spent 5 years studying the things that mess up the people stuff. And, what I discovered… we’re all sinners learning to live our life in Christ. Since 1987, my ministry (as a pastor and a business leader) has been dedicated to helping people fix broken people stuff.
Core Belief #4: “Every professional has a coach, so too for Christians.” We were built to live in community. I have been part of a company that grew from early start-up into the world’s largest. I have worked to help one man grow a business that he sold for $152 million. I have been the personal coach to young athletes and CEOs. It is my greatest honor to walk along-side people, sharing our faith, developing hope, learning and growing. I want to be your coach.
A little bit more…
I grew up in Davenport, Iowa, the oldest of four boys. Jacki and I met when we were 18 years old and, have been married since 1969. We moved to Overland Park in 1988 and have one son, Scott. Jacki and I have been Puppy Raisers, working to prepare assistance dogs for people with special needs and have been very active in Golden Retriever Rescue, hosting and re-homing more than 50 lost Goldens.
I earned a BA in physical education from the University of Northern Iowa. A Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and completed my Doctor of Ministry at the University of Dubuque.
So, in one page that’s me, the new Interim Pastor for Wellsville Baptist Church. I look forward to meeting you and growing in Christ together.
